| Cooper's Cut & Chef Anne-Sophie Pic Cooper's Cut opened this month in the space at Four Seasons at Tower Bridge formerly occupied by Chef Anne-Sophie Pic. She recently opened at Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok. The restaurant is named after Sir Edwin Cooper, the architect of the Port of London Authority building at Ten Trinity Square that is now a Four Seasons. An Elegant Room & Innovative Menus High ceilings, vast windows, luxurious leather banquettes & seats from the Ms Pic days and columns covered with bevelled mirrors. A restrained and classy look. Their dinner menu includes an Iberico Duroc (originating from Spain) pork chop from Shropshire. I viewed this as a fortuitous omen. Luke Armstrong is the Executive Chef. He worked at The Ledbury, Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo etc. However, mid-strength martinis are not really my thing & the curry-flavoured version sounds a bit like Anne-Sophie Pic's coffee butter. Something to avoid. A Steak Restaurant's Breakfast The cooked breakfast included Cumbrian pork sausages, 'slab bacon', a mushroom & crispy Mrs. Brown’s Black Pudding. I declined the 'British beans' (baked beans) & slow-roasted tomatoes. Serving pork belly, rather than crispy bacon, was Chef Yannick Alléno's initial misjudged approach at Pavyllon at Four Seasons at Park Lane. He also switched sausages for sausage meat in the beans. It was all a bit too different. At Cooper's Cut the bacon was crispy & delicious, despite the 'slab' description. Every element of the breakfast was delectable. My Birthday Weekend Pancakes with strawberries & cream, and a candle, arrived for my birthday. There will be 6 luxury hotels this Birthday Weekend & lots of birthday surprises. It was a '6 teddies' (🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻) perfect start to my Birthday Weekend. Now have the Weekend Financial Times to relax with. | |
