The 'Epic 6 Week Trip'

After 6 flights & 5 countries the 14th, and last, hotel on the 'Epic Trip' had to be Four Seasons, Doha.

This was the 7th Four Seasons on the trip & visiting Four Seasons Resort & Residences at The Pearl Qatar, on my last full day, took the total of Four Seasons visited to 8.

A Red Carpet Welcome & A Tranquil Suite

A friendly and cheerful red carpet welcome was waiting for me.

The suite I had been allocated had incredible views of the beach & Nobu, Doha and was in beautiful pale colours & had a huge shower.

I loved the mock up of 'FS Doha News' but was surprised there was no champagne. There was a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne when I stayed in 2022.

Friday Brunch in Curiosa by Jean-Georges

My trip was perfectly timed with Sunday brunch in Bangkok, Saturday brunch in Dubai and now Friday brunch in Doha.

My welcome drink at 'Curiosa by Jean-Georges' was a 'Lychee Passion Martini' (vodka, orange liqueur & Veuve Clicquot champagne) with & gummy bears.

The friends I met for brunch are some of the best friends I have in the world, the live music was brilliant and the food excellent. Brunch could not have been any better.

The Library Lounge & The 'Epic Trip Martini Challenge'

The black pepper & olive oil gin martini entered was the antithesis of what I like and so I decided it was ineligible for the challenge. However, sitting at the bar with one of my best friends was a dream come true.

The Pool Where Frozen Grapes Were Served And Your Sunglasses Cleaned

My lunches by the pool were delicious, & I appreciated The Weekend Financial Times & Wall Street Journal being printed off for me, but some of the touches that made this pool special have been lost over the years.

Nobu, Doha & Four Seasons Resort & Residences at The Pearl Qatar

I had a bit of a disaster with my transport to Nobu, Doha but this was more than made up for PR Director Clara's tour of Four Seasons Resort & Residences at The Pearl Qatar.

Stunning residences and restaurants I want to try. Thanks to GM Mehdi for arranging this at short notice and GM Shadi at Four Seasons, Doha for arranging a Series 7 BMW.

Elements Reopened For My Last Day: Memories of My Almost 10 Years Living & Working in Doha

I was thrilled 'Elements' reopened for breakfast on my last morning. Have so many happy memories made in that room.

Also loved having coffee with one of my former Qatari colleagues from the QFC Regulatory Authority.

Four Seasons, Doha has a very special place in my heart but the lack of a bottle of champagne at my last hotel on my 'Epic Trip' is inexcusable. This, combined with the reduction in the pool service. has to rate a '7 teddies' (🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻) score. Tips: get transport for Nobu, Doha from the front of the hotel & do not expect your suite access card to open gates by the water.

Simon, Rick and I expected this stay to close out your 'Epic Trip' on an impeccable note, but the absence of a champagne bottle to celebrate such a milestone is truly disappointing—especially given the countless incredible memories we’ve had at that very property.

We were thrilled to hear about the red carpet greeting, which must have been such a warm and gracious start to your stay. The suite sounds stunning, with its serene palette and that incredible shower—a true haven after such an ambitious journey. Visiting the new property at The Pearl is an exciting addition to your Doha experience, and it’s wonderful to hear it left a lasting impression.

That brunch at Curiosa by Jean-Georges sounds divine—excellent food, vibrant music, and time spent with your closest friends are a recipe for perfection. Rick and I couldn’t help but smile at the mention of the gummy bear martini; they add such a playful touch and are a personal favorite of ours as well! While the black pepper and olive oil martini sounds far from appealing, your focus on great company and meaningful moments is what truly matters.

It’s disappointing to hear that some of the charm we’ve cherished at the Four Seasons, Doha—particularly the once-extraordinary poolside service—has diminished. Rick still fondly recalls their meticulous attention to detail during his last visit. However, the reopening of Elements for breakfast must have been a nostalgic and heartwarming moment, especially given your fond memories of that space.

The transportation hiccup with Nobu is surprising, as one would expect seamless arrangements at a property of this caliber. A dedicated guest shuttle or golf cart seems like an obvious enhancement.

As always, your post is both inspiring and insightful—it’s clear how much care you put into sharing these special moments. Rick and I are now even more excited to plan our next visit to Doha, thanks to your thoughtful recommendations!

It was odd that Four Seasons, Bahrain Bay gave me Krug, Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach Veuve Clicquot (despite the fact I was not staying with them) & then Four Seasons, Doha nothing. The Mandarin Oriental, Doha pool staff did provide me with 'free' treats & a far more personal service.

Do not worry, the Smithfield Market steak you cooked for me on New Year's Eve, & the sauce, were perfect. Still raving about the view of the London fireworks from your 30th floor place.

I am sorry that the absence of champagne brought the trip down a bit (but you know me -- not fond of champagne) but I was still, as always inspired.
I love the martini challenge and when I read the name, I gulped, thinking "Oh no" but then its elimination meant I was free from doing so. LOL.
Over ten years, things do decline in finesse I find, not so much from intent, but just slippage. Also, I often wonder if my ten year ago memories might be a bit enhanced over the years? \
In any event, your postings have made me 'yearn to return' to Thailand and am currently looking at the Four Seasons Koh Samui for a grande finale.
Your photos are, as always, so beautiful and again, my appetite is stirred by the food photos. Yes, indeed, I need to look beyond Canada for a wonderful meal and glorious hotel experiences.
