We are back from a 'trip of a lifetime' to New York. It started by flying British Airways First Class to New York's JFK. First Wing Using the 'First Wing' again excited me. However, the dedicated First Class security tunnel was closed for upgrading, regarding the lifting of the 100ml liquidity rule. The regular 'Fast Track' was not too bad and I was soon in the BA Concorde Room. Concorde Room The Concorde Room was quiet and a very enjoyable way to spend a few hours. The BA cheeseburger, with a glass of Laurent-Perrier Grand Siecle champagne, was a perfect way to start a very special trip. First Class on the Plane Soon after arriving on the plane I had a glass of champagne & warm nuts. Hot towels are back. The crew were excellent; food, some of the best I have eaten on a plane for years; and drinks choice genuinely First Class. I spent an outstanding flight watching HBO's 'Succession: Season 4' drinking Johnnie Walker Blue Label & double espressos. I also managed to get a few hours sleep and was woken with a coffee & orange juice. Immigration and Customs at JFK were fast & efficient. Hope my photos evidence why it was a '6 teddies' (🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻) flight. If the dedicated First Class security tunnel had been working in the First Wing, its would have rated '7 teddies'. Tip:- if you wanted a more 'airy experience' in the Concorde Room, there is now a fully functioning dining area on the balcony. |

Wow!!! What a way to start yet another memorable journey, Mr. Frew…. I have never been so fortunate to travel this way perhaps only in my dreams. However if the chance ever arose this would be my go to travel arrangement. Everything from beginning to end sounded

Looks fabulous Si. I would expect no less. I hadn’t heard about a shift away from the 100ml rule - good news all around. Hugs to Issy. Xx

The photos are amazing, it looks like you had an incredible flight. It’s a shame that the return flight food was not up to scratch, I can’t wait for those photos!!

How delightful to hear your trip from London to New York, my former home city, started with a bang. Since I have never flown first-class I get to vicariously experienced it with you.

I was shocked by how good the BA First Class food was & thought they had turned a corner. However, my return flight indicated otherwise.

Oh Simon, my grandchildren might begin to hate you. You tempt me so beautifully to give up bringing (and paying) for them on my travels! How fondly I remember the first class flight days, but this is a new level of sublime!

This looks sumptuous, I flew BA when I lived in the UK, but not in years. We've got a couple trips "across the pond" scheduled so will look into the BA option. One of our friends also has had the same experience as you and so I'm curious. They did deliver you rested and on time - you looked well when we met in NYC. YAY for BA! And thanks for this blog - so many great reviews. We check them often. Oh, and btw, Grey Goose is my spirit animal. Cheers!

Wonderful photos, what a superb experience you had. What a shame they spoiled the ship for a h’apporth of tar with a below par return trip.

Another epic post. From the pictures of the food you would think you were in a 5* restaurant or if it were possible even a 7*. I have read many reviews lately about the quality and standard of travel with British Airways. I have been a fan of the airline since my younger days and they have always been my airline of choice. I have never had the privilege of flying first class. I did once fly business class and still have the menu from that flight which was signed by the Captain.

The AuthorsSi Frew has lived in the UK, Bermuda, Qatar, Cyprus & the Cayman Islands. During this time he met Whoopi Goldberg (in Claridge's), Mike Tyson (in the Concorde Lounge at JFK) , Gordon Ramsay (in the Doha Four Seasons), Chris Eubanks (in The Dorchester), Cherie Blair (in Bermuda & again in the Doha Four Seasons) etc. There are funny stories attached to all these interactions, feel free to ask Si about them when you meet him.
