At the end of my Far East trip, I was looking forward to being back in the UK for my 29 March birthday. On my last Etihad Airways A380 flight I was in a First Class Apartment and wondered what Business Class to London would be like instead.
Etihad Airways Business Class flight from Abu Dhabi to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam - January 2016
After an 8 hour night wait (from just before midnight until 7:35am) in the Etihad Airways Premium Lounges at Abu Dhabi International Airport, I desperately needed my bed on the plane.
From all the people trying to sleep in the Premium Lounge at Abu Dhabi when I first arrived, Etihad Airways (unlike Qatar Airways) have difficulty scheduling fast connections for their numerous transit customers.
Having had dinner with a friend from Shrewsbury School in Gaggan in Bangkok, who had flown in the First Class 'Apartment' on Etihad Airways, where you have a 'living room' and use of a shower on the plane, I decided I had to try their A380.
Excluding New York, my first big trip of 2016 will be two months in Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia. I will be flying with Etihad Airways on one of their A380s in a First Class Apartment and staying at
The Dorchester on my last night in the UK.
Should be a perfect way to start 2016.
Si Frew has lived in the UK, Bermuda, Qatar, Cyprus & the Cayman Islands. During this time he met Whoopi Goldberg (in Claridge's), Mike Tyson (in the Concorde Lounge at JFK) , Gordon Ramsay (in the Doha Four Seasons), Chris Eubanks (in The Dorchester), Cherie Blair (in Bermuda & again in the Doha Four Seasons) etc. There are funny stories attached to all these interactions, feel free to ask Si about them when you meet him.
