| The Best Airport Welcome No driver with a board to greet me , when I stay at Mandarin Oriental, Doha. Instead Abdollah & Arina were waiting for me. A perfect Qatari & Russian welcome. My niece in Russia had been messaging earlier that day about snow in Moscow and so I was so thrilled by this. In the Bentley Abdollah offered me chocolate covered dates from Qinwan. These are the best dates I have ever tried. An Arrival At Mandarin Oriental, Doha That Included Arabic Coffee, A Falcon & A 'We Are Fans of Si Frew' Banner Being greeted by GM Thomas and his team was so special and the Arabic coffee, falcon and personalised banner was almost overwhelming. An indication of how 'better than perfect' my second stay at Mandarin Oriental, Doha was going to be. My Vast Stunning Suite With Media Room, Study, Guest Bathroom, Balcony & Kitchen Hope my photos do some justice to my magnificent suite and all the thoughtful gifts left in it. These included a bottle of Veuve Clicquot champagne, balloons for 10 years of luxury travelblog www.sifrew.com, MoMo, a very regal new Qatari member of 'the gang' & framed photos of my mother by my bed. A Martini With GM Thomas; Coffee With My Former QFC Regulator Authority Colleagues & Lunch at Raffles, Doha With The GM of Arab Jordan Investment Bank (Qatar) LLC My respect for GM Thomas grows even more each time we meet. He is the sort of hotel professional I adore. Meeting my former QFC Regulatory Authority colleagues, two of who I also worked with in Bermuda, brought back so many happy memories and I loved lunch with Khaled, even if the food at Raffles, Doha was disappointing. Perfect Martinis; Liang's Soup Dumplings; IZU & A Dim Sum Class Head Barternder Jurgen makes a perfect martini. Liang's soup dumplings still blow my mind. The rich flavours of my chicken in IZU were mouthwateringly good & I would highly recommend the dim sum class I took. All the food at Mandarin Oriental, Doha is on another level. Mandarin Oriental, Doha really is better than perfect and my stay must rate an '8 teddies' (🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻) score, without any doubt. My butler Arina saw to this. The pool area has improved since my 2022 stay, with new smart pool furniture. My suite's view of Barahat Msheireb could not have been more apt, given the referendum taking place during my visit. This meant I got a message from Simon Casson, now CEO of Corinthia Hotels, during me stay Tips: eat in the less franetic upstairs at IZU & take the dim sum class, even if you cannot cook. |     |
