With mum's rapidly deteriorating health, I was thrilled we managed to arrange for her to spend Christmas Day at the family home in Shrewsbury with her granddaughter from Moscow. It was a very special, and memorable, Christmas Day and I was so glad we could share it was a family friend, who I have found so supportive. We even ate beluga caviar, thanks to our Russian family, and had a real Christmas tree. My niece is now an elegant young lady and still a joy to spend time with. She loved her Laduree gifts from me and Vivienne Westwood & Pandora gifts from her dad. I met my godson, with his mother, just before Christmas. It was the first time we have met since COVID-19 and a delight. I sent him his first wallet for Christmas from Fortnum & Mason. My pre-Christmas breakfasts are now legendary. The cooked breakfast at The Grill by Tom Booton at The Dorchester and the Chinese one at Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park deserve special mentions but this 'tradition' fittingly culminated with perfection at Raffles, London at The OWO in 2023. My welcome there, their scrambled eggs & ginger press could not have been bettered. Hope you enjoy the photos below. It was an '8 teddies' (🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻) Christmas. I cherish my mother and adore my niece, to spend this Christmas Day with them both was a dream come true. Organising all this has taken its toll on me and I am looking forward to a First Class trip to New York this month to recharge my batteries. Happy New Year to the 400,000 readers of my blog. Hope we all have healthy and lucky ones. |
