Marco Pierre White is often called the 'godfather of modern British cooking' and memorable Bob Carlos Clarke photos of him, from MPW's book 'White Heat', dominated the area of the restaurant we sat in. I was pleased to find that Hotel Threadneedles, where I was staying before the May Bank Holiday, had a Marco Pierre White restaurant, having enjoyed Titanic, Harveys in Wandsworth and Petrus.
I was then thrilled to find it was a Wheeler's of St James, having happy memories of my parents taking me to the original of this restaurant, which was established in 1856.
