Finding a Rolls-Royce on my return from Cayman Islands turned what could have been a fraught experience into a pleasure. Flying American Airlines First Class, & staying at The Dorchester, meant I had to return from Cayman Islands to find a Rolls-Royce.
The Dorchester helped me celebrate by giving me one of their gorgeous Dorchester suites again, hotel legend Amanda Hyndman met with me, I (finally) met Four Seasons' Lynn Brutman, Dorchester butlers repacked my luggage beautifully and some of my best friends from my 10 years in Qatar joined me for drinks.

 My exquisite, & luxurious, Dorchester suite. Charming GM Robert personally welcomed me back & my suite was ready for me when I arrived at 10:30am.  Lyn, General Manager of Four Seasons at Park Lane, was such a fun person to (finally) meet. I loved her quirky London gift.  Good to see supercars outside The Dorchester still, despite Brexit!  John, GM of 45 Park Lane, once helped me with a wallet lost at Four Seasons Doha, when he worked at The Dorchester. He is always such a great guy to meet.  The bedroom of my Dorchester suite was such a oasis of tranquil luxury & I slept so well there. I have a Dorchester hotel bed in my Barbican place.  The friends from my 10 years in Qatar are always brilliant to meet.  Nothing beats a Full English Breakfast at the dining table in your Dorchester suite.  I loved this 'teddy bear note' that was left with the champagne in my Dorchester suite.  I last met Amanda when she was GM of the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok. She is currently GM of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park & always fascinating to spend time with.  My Qatar guest was stunned by the size of the Bang & Olufsen TV in my suite.  Yes, that print in my Dorchester suite is signed by HRH Prince Charles.  The view of Hyde Park from my Dorchester suite. Central Park when in New York. What a luxury hotel life!  The stunning marble bathroom in my Dorchester suite.  The Dorchester arranged for me to get to Shrewsbury in style and Dorchester legend Janice had a drink with me before I left.  I am now with my family in Shropshire. You would be smiling if you had spent dinner sitting opposite my niece.  My father & his granddaughter, worth coming back in the UK just to witness this. |
