I am a huge fan of British Airways and was excited that my New Year trip to New York would mean I would get to use the First Class lounge at Heathrow Terminal 5 again.

| First Class British Airways customers use the Concorde Room lounge and so the First Class lounge is for BA Gold Card customers like me. Just before New Year the lounge was relatively quiet. I went to look at the impressive cooked breakfast but ended up ordering Eggs Benedict from the menu and going to get a glass of Taittinger champagne. The Eggs Benedict was salty creamy perfection and the champagne deliciously chilled. After this I tried to get a booking in the Elemis spa but was told there were none left before my flight. Instead I killed the time before my flight playing on WiFi and reading the newspapers. 🐻🐻🐻🐻 (4 out of 5 ‘teddies’) - the food and champagne were excellent. Not being able to get a spa booking was the only thing to let using this lounge down. My tips: try to make your spa booking as soon as you get to the lounge and always check the menus before you decide what to eat. |  The impressive entrance to the First Class lounge, flanked by the memorable 'horse lamps'.
