I then stayed there again after the refurbishment, when they left Sichuan pepper and Parmesan popcorn in my suite, relating to an 'incident' three years before.
The service & attention to detail in this uber luxurious Four Seasons is legendary and I knew I must stay there on this Christmas trip to wish Four Seasons star GM John congratulations on his 35 years with Four Seasons.
I was so glad I did. My suite, with a working fireplace, took my breath away and everything about the stay was beyond perfection. An incredible way to end Christmas before flying back to Cayman Islands for a night before Four Seasons New York Downtown again for New Year.
The Welcome I thought GM John might be meeting me but was thrilled to find new Manager Mali, David (Director of Rooms) who I know and Jann (F&B Director) who I also know well. Rene (GM of Four Seasons Prague) was checking out and came to say hello too. It was, almost, overwhelming! My Deluxe One Bedroom Suite David showed me the suite I had been given and I was left, almost, speechless too. A Veuve Clicquot fridge had been put in my suite with a magnum of Veuve Clicquot and a 'cornucopia' of fruit. It was so thoughtful I was brought near tears again. A Remote Controlled 'Real' Fireplace The sitting room of my suite was so elegant it took my breath away and it had beautiful views of Hyde Park. However, it was the 'real' remote controlled fireplace that stunned me. I could have sat by it all afternoon, if I had not had places to be, and people to see, on my last day in London. Bvlgari Vert The marble bathroom was beautiful with a huge rainforest shower and Bvlgari Vert products specially for me. Using these products reminds me of happy stays at Four Seasons New York and the Four Seasons George V in Paris. Dressing Room & Four Seasons Buenos Aires The vast dressing room was a perfect place to showcase my Four Seasons Buenos Aires suit bag and reminded me of Four Seasons New York and the, former, Four Seasons Canary Wharf. No Four Seasons Bright White Bed Linen The bedroom did not have Four Seasons' Bright White bed linen but David assured me it was of better quality and I certainly slept well using it. Paddington Bear I was so thrilled by the Veuve Clicquot fridge, and suite, that I did not even notice Paddington Bear until after David left. We immediately fell in love with him. So topical, with the new film just out, and when I met Michael Bond's secretary in Fortnum & Mason she moaned that they were not using 'real' Wellington boots these day but the www.sifrew.com bear has perfect 'rubber boots'. Rolls-Royce Ghost I used one of the Four Seasons' complimentary Rolls-Royce Ghosts to get to Claridge's. Quite a way to travel. Claridge's Karl Lagerfeld Christmas Tree Inside Claridge's Karl Lagerfeld's 'inverted' Christmas tree was as lavish and beautiful as I had hoped for. Creed Himalaya I then walked to buy Creed Himalaya, the only cologne www.sifrew.com uses, from their shop on Mount Street. On the way I passed the Tracey Emin CBE's Christmas tree outside The Connaught. The Dorchester It would not be Christmas without a visit to The Dorchester to see their Gingerbread Hotel and chat to their staff. The staff in The Bar welcomed me back with "good to see you again Mr Frews". I had a very dry Grey Goose martini and then went for a chat with George, and his colleagues, on the Hallporters desk. 45 Park Lane Next I stopped at 45 Park Lane to see John (their GM). We had an incredible catch up and he had a stunning Christmas gift for me. Coasters featuring the art 45 Park Lane has exhibited. Unfortunately these were stolen from my bags during my American Airlines First Class flight back to Miami. Amaranto Bar in Four Seasons at Park Lane That evening I met friends from Qatar, who now live in Abu Dhabi. It could not have been a better evening with so many laughs, and Oscar looking after us so well, including an 'embarrassment' of 'free' food, splitting the Veuve Clicquot magnum from the suite so we could enjoy it in the bar etc Parting is Difficult I got a perfect night's sleep but had an early flight. I was, therefore, stunned to find GM John, Mali and David all in the lobby to say goodbye. That is what I call service. 🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻(7 out of 5 ‘teddies’) - the friendly welcome and goodbye Veuve Clicquot fridge/lavish fruit; Paddington Bear with 'rubber boots'; elegant suite; Bvlgari Vert; GM John, and other impeccable staff, broke the 'teddy score' and all almost got '8 teddies' but that would cause too many Four Seasons GM 'arguments' with Bali etc. My tips:- use the complimentary Rolls-Royce Ghosts for your short journeys and drink in the hotel's Amaranto Bar and asked for Oscar. | |
