Spending Quality Time with my Exceptional Parents in Shrewsbury - Shropshire, UK - October 2018

The 'Shropshire Frews' at a dinner I hosted while in Shrewsbury. You would smile like me if you were seated opposite my niece.

Completing my 18 months in Cayman Islands gave me a chance to spend some quality time with my incredible parents, before another big adventure in. the Far East.

During my time in Shropshire my brother hosted an impressive family birthday Sunday lunch; I got to have lunch with my awe-inspiring godmother; went on a Tanners Cellar Tour with dad; visited Chester with mum & day, including lunch at The Chester Grosvenor; had lunch with a special family friend who got me thinking about Bank of Bermuda (now part of HSBC) etc; squeezed in a day in London to see the Bank of England & Annabel Shaw (Four Seasons Director of Residences Twenty Grosvenor Square - the former US Navy building)  and I had drinks with friends from my Prestfelde & Shrewsbury School days. Hope the photos below help you understand what an unforgettable time I had. 

🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻(7 out of 5 ‘teddies’) - spending time with my unbelievable parents is always a '7 teddy experience' but so much else during my time in Shrewsbury & London could not have been better (eg lunch with my indomitable godmother). What UK memories to take to the Far East with me.

I took the chance to go & see my childhood home while in Shrewsbury. My brother & I were so lucky.

Shrewsbury has a castle built in 1070!

The Old Market Hall in Shrewsbury is later, dating from 1596.

My pork chop lunch in the Grosvenor in Chester with mum & had was sensational.

I was thrilled to spot 'Lookin' in The House of Jumble & The Comic Vault in Shrewsbury. It was my weekend reading before the Financial Times.

Annabel (the Four Seasons Director) was such a phenomenal lady to chat with & Ralph Lauren's Cafe on Regent Street a perfect venue for someone buying an iPhone Xs that morning.

I started my career at the Bank of England & it is a great help to still be able to meet people from there to discuss the Caribbean, AML/CFT, Basel, Brexit etc.

The 'scene' I found in Euston Station after a long day in London. To cap it all Virgin Trains did not run the First Class service on my train that I had paid for.

Only Si Frew has a godmother as unique as this lady.

I must thank Alix, from Tanners, for enabling dad & me to attend the Tanners Cellar Tour, where dad amazed people recounting stories of his dealings with Clive Tanner.

The walk to my swim at the Quarry Pool each day helped me to appreciate Shrewsbury even more.

The roast beef my brother cooked for Sunday lunch. He is an impressive cook & host.

We celebrated my niece's birthday early at the Sunday lunch, as they were all going to Disneyland Paris for the actual birthday.

'James the Second', which was my favourite gift store in Shrewsbury, is now a champagne bar 'Ten & Six'. I bought my parents Moet champagne there.

Despite being a Veuve Clicquot Brand Ambassador, it had to be Tanners champagne on my 'last' Sunday in Shropshire.

This looks like Christmas but was the Sunday lunch my mum produced on my 'last' Sunday in Shrewsbury. She is an exceptional cook, person & mother.
