This pyramid-shaped hotel, from a Singapore hotel group, sounds bizarre but I ended up finding first class service and a vast tasteful suite that blew my mind.
Welcome The hotel is based in Egyptian themed Wafi Mall and the hotel lobby has epic proportions with pillars with carved reliefs etc. There was such a warm welcome & Ashram, the Assistant Front Office Manager, was there to greet me. I was escorted up to my suite. My Butler & Suite My butler was waiting in my suite and so friendly and helpful. I had left my iPhone 6 charging cable at Four Seasons, Dubai at Jumeirah Beach and a replacement was found before I knew it. The size of the Landmark Suite, and its stunning panoramic views of Dubai, left me (unusually) speechless. There was Moet champagne on ice, gifts for Issy and a Raffles teddy bear. My butler was soon filling the jacuzzi for me, using Asprey bath products, and I was in heaven. Clothes were sent out to be laundered. After a Raffles club sandwich, with pork bacon, I decided to call the latest member of the 'gang' Ralph and went to bed. Day Two Breakfast on the Balcony for Two After a perfect night's sleep I ordered breakfast in my suite. When my Eggs Benedict arrived I could not believe a mini fruit breakfast for Issy was also on the trolley. I ate breakfast on the suite's balcony looking out over a dusty Dubai. The Pool, The Four Seasons George V in Paris & Raffles Singapore On my way to the pool spa staff asked where Issy was. At the pool I worked on www.sifrew.com and swam before meeting Krystel (Director of Rooms). What an incredible lady she is. The sort of hotel professional I adore sharing stories with. She was working at the Four Seasons George V in Paris, in 2009, when I had my famous 'incident' there and tried to persuade me to stay at Raffles Singapore. As she was leaving she told me I could keep the suite for as long as I needed it and got the pool staff to send me a Singapore Sling, to remind me of my cocktails in Raffles Singapore. Once I had finished this cocktail staff brought me a gin based Dubai Sling, with the zesty flavours of lemon, coriander, chilli & fig. Lunch by the Pool I ordered a seafood pizza and was thrilled they could make it with anchovies. It arrived in a brilliantly glamorous Raffles pizza box and was delicious. The staff at the pool were so caring and full of smiles, moving the sun umbrella to shade me, as they had no complimentary sunscreen by the pool. Back at my suite, just before 4pm, I found it had been fully serviced, my laundry was back and I packed once again, A Personal Check Out Krystel checked me out personally and Ayman Gharib (the General Manager) came for a fun chat. I felt I was leaving friends when I was saying goodbye. 🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻 (6 out of 5 ‘teddies’) - it is rare to find hotel employees like Krystel. She, Ayman the GM, the suite I could not believe, the champagne and Issy's breakfast gained this hotel the extra 'teddy'. My tip:- take your own sunscreen, despite the sun umbrella, I got badly sunburnt. |
