I was also interested to see The Mark again, having stayed there a number of years ago. I was so glad I did this on my last day in New York, it is such a special hotel.
| With some of the bitterly cold weather in New York I had experienced a few days before, the hot chocolate cart outside the hotel is a nice touch. You enter the stylish lobby of the 1927 building and can almost feel the old money of the Upper East Side. I met sweet and friendly Lana (PR Manager) and she took me to view a standard room. I was impressed by its size, the stylish bathroom and the print by Karl Lagerfeld. The hotel's 2009 refurbishment still looks very good. Next we viewed a Mark Premier Two Bedroom Suite. There was so much natural light and I was interested by the long-stay features such as full kitchens and washing machines in the suite. I was then shown the John Lobb shoe shine; and Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant, where I once had coffee with General Manager Olivier Lordonnois. Staff at The Mark wear Turnbull & Asser shirts, which demonstrates the level of luxury and attention to detail. 🐻🐻🐻🐻🐻 (5 out of 5 ‘teddies’) - Lana was the perfect tour guide and The Mark is a very special hotel. If you are planning a shopping trip, and are looking for quiet uber chic luxury, The Mark must be your hotel. Tip: remember to get your shoes shined there. | The Laduree hot chocolate cart outside the main entrance. The Jacques Grange designed chic 'French' lobby. The large standard room. The bathrooms, with their clean lines, are so beautiful. The cartoons on the bath products add an element of fun. All the windows in the sitting room of the Mark Premier Two Bedroom Suite. One of the Karl Lagerfeld prints. The John Lobb complimentary shoe shine for guests. The Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant. The bar with sofa covers that look like cowhide but are also maps of the world. |
